Heartbeat

I woke up during the 3 o’clock hour this morning and Holy Spirit told me to start praying over this situation in my life. So, I obeyed and prayed. After about an hour I went back to sleep and was given a dream.

At some point in this dream there was a moment when I was talking to someone and I began to have a full on panic attack! My heart was about to beat out my chest. My head was spinning and I was literally about to collapse onto the floor.

The person I was talking to came over to me and told me to lay my head against their chest. In a normal state of mind I would have felt SO uncomfortable with someone telling me to do that! BUT.. the condition I was in was super clouded. Honestly, I was in was desperate mindset I was willing to grasp ahold of anything to calm down!

With my head on their chest my focus shifted from being in panic mode to forcing myself to just listen. Listening and focusing on their heartbeat and their voice it began to amplify in my ears and peace began to flow through me.

I woke up still engulfed in the peace I had felt in that very dream. Now fully awake I found that my ears heart and mind were still fixed on listening.

How many times do we find ourselves panicked with our own thoughts? When we are panicked it is typically rooted from fear. This dream I had reminded me how easy it is to become panicked and how important it is to continually listen to the heartbeat of God. Doing so allows us to get back in rhythm- God’s rhythm.

When our heart’s rhythm sings along with God’s the raging seas in our life calm down. Our focus readjusts so we are able to see clearly again. Ultimately, our faith, and trust comes back to life.

I find it interesting how the person in the dream didn’t tell me to walk to them but instead walked to me. I can’t help but think about what Matthew 18 says.

“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even on e of these little ones should perish.”

Matthew 18:12-14 (NLT)

Although we are apart of the ‘nine-nine’, there is always that possibility of falling away and getting lost because of that fear, shame or worry we carry within us. Although we might find ourselves clouded and lost in panic remember that our God will come running to save you! Only if you are willing He will help you sync back into his rhythm.

Today I encourage you to listen to God’s heartbeat. We can find it through His word, prayer, pure worship, even simply by quieting our mouth and mind physically so that you can listen to what He is trying to speak to you!

I pray that you fall back into sync with the Lord’s heartbeat. I pray that when you do so His peace flow through you and that your ears would be open to hear what He wants to speak to you!
