Momentum

As I was praying this morning the word ‘momentum’ came to my heart. That is when I saw a vision of us, The Church, playing in a basketball game. Here is what came to me..

“It is almost like we are in a basketball game and all that we, as a team, have practiced will be reflected on the court. The ball is about to be thrown into our hands. It seems like this moment of the turnover is in slow motion. It is in this moment we, The Church, are gaining momentum. There will be no trick up the enemy’s sleeve that will stop us from winning! Our momentum is coming back!! Get ready and hold on because we are about to have the time of our life! This ‘game’ is not quite over yet!”

Looking up the word momentum it means quantity of motion in a moving body. Moving from the word ‘momentum‘ to the word ‘moment‘ we find that this word means a very brief portion of time, instant. Going deeper into this word we will also find that the P.I.E. (Porto-Indo-European) root of ‘moment‘ is ‘meue‘ which means “to push away”.

Now with all of that said, I believe that this moment we are in is truly a critical moment. We, as the church, are pushing away from our old habits, our old ways of being a church. I believe that in this moment we are relearning how to work together in a new and improved way. As we begin to push away and work as a team our momentum will change. We, as The Church, will grow rapidly and grow stronger in the Lord. Not one evil spirit will take us down AS LONG as we work as a team and not against each other.

Our momentum is changing. As we look at the world we are honestly in the slow motion moment I mentioned earlier. During this time we will seek and know where our strength comes from. We are not to worry about tomorrow but live in the now.

I understand that not all of us enjoy a routine change. In fact, most of us despise change in general. Allow me to reassure you that God, our Father, knows this. It is in this moment, this slow moving moment, He is allowing us to breathe, prepare and absorb all of this change that is happening. I also feel the need to inform you with these words.. get ready because a movement is about to happen. This will all happen in an instant.

There is no need for us to worry about what will happen tomorrow. All we are needing to do is to LIVE in the NOW!

“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own’ give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, you wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all of this.”

Proverbs 3:5-12 (MSG)

As I was doing more research in the Bible about momentum I found something interesting in the book of Matthew chapter four. This chapter starts with Jesus being tested in the wilderness, and of course overcame that test with the Word of God. We go on to read that Jesus then finds out that John had been arrested. So what did Jesus do next? He began to teach and heal the people. What I found in this passage is so.. timely.

“From there he went all over Galilee. He used synagogues for meeting places and taught people the truth of God. God’s kingdom was his theme-that beginning right now they were under God’s government, a good government! He also healed people of their diseases and of the bad effects of their bad lives. Word got around the entire Roman province of Syria. People brought anybody with an ailment, whether mental, emotional, or physical. Jesus healed them one and all. More and more people came, the momentum gathering. Besides those from Galilee, crowds came from the “ten Towns” across the lake, others up from Jerusalem and Judea, still others from across the Jordan.”

Matthew 4:23-25 (MSG)

The two words I want you to catch in this passage is the momentum gathering.

We, as The Church, will be facing this moment very soon. I do ask that you prepare yourself for the momentum gathering. What cause this momentum gather? Word got around of what Jesus was doing. People were drawn to Jesus.

See, once we begin to become obedient to the Sprit of God, things begin to happen. Friend, let me tell you that healings and miracles never stopped after Bible times. Healings and miracles are happening this very day! Even I have moments of doubt, but then I realize that God does not think or do the things we mere humans do. For He is God. Who else can compare to all that He thinks and all He does?

In this moment prepare for what is about to happen to this world. As you continue to stay obedient to the Spirit of God people from all over will begin to gather. Let me take this a step further. As we, the church, become united and work as a team.. just you watch and see what will happen. That is when we will begin to see the momentum gathering. People will want what we, The Church, have. That my friend can only be the Lord our God. I believe that God will be shinning so bright through you people will begin to want what you have. Don’t allow yourself or those around you get this confused the celebrity status. What God is about to do through you has nothing to do with that. In fact the Bible clearly tells us not to make any idols in Exodus 34:17. If that doesn’t help ease your mind let’s read this passage..

“The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols will totally disappear.”

Isaiah 2:17-18 (NIV)

These miracles signs and wonders are not going to happen because of who we are in this world but who we are in Christ Jesus.

God is about to move, and when He moves, you best ready because He is allowing this time for us to breathe, prepare and absorb.

“Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s decree. “Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once- and everywhere you look, blessing! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel:

“They’ll rebuild their ruined cities. They’ll plant vineyards and drink good wine. They’ll work their gardens and eat fresh vegetables. And I’ll plant them, plant them on their own land. They’ll never again be uprooted from the land I’ve given them.” God, your God, says so.”

Amos 9:13-15 (MSG)
