A Splash of Anxiety

Be still and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalms 46:10 NLT

It Feels Impossible

If you are anything like me, it is hard to stay still, and it sure does feels impossible to calm my racing mind. All the unnecessary stress I place upon myself I, in response, receive crazy headaches with a splash of anxiety.

There have been times where my mind wouldn’t stop thinking about certain situations that eventually caused me some panic attacks. I started shaking and my heart was racing like I had just ran a marathon. I became moody and had trouble focusing on anything else but those situations.

During those moments I would hear Holy Spirit whisper in my ear to just be still, close my eyes and breathe. When I would obey and listen to Holy Spirit there was such a peace that would flow over me.

Weak Points

The enemy knows the weak points we humans have. Believe it or not, our weakest point is our mind. Anything that Satan himself can do to creep into our mind, he will do.

The enemy does this because he knows how powerful we are against him with God on our side. Satan doesn’t want us to see the power we have against him, let alone use this power.

Your Helmet

One of the last blogs, Positive & Negative, I wrote how important it is to wear your spiritual helmet. Although it feels uncomfortable it shields our mind from the unnecessary comments of the enemy.

Now once we keep this helmet on we have another step to take. We must be still. As hard as it is to take this step right now, it will become easier over time. That doesn’t mean that the trials we face become easier. No, it becomes easier to trust in the Lord knowing that if He did it before, God will do it again.

God has shown me that if I begin to run all over the place and try to take things into my own hands, I will mess up what he has planned and aligned, and possibly hurt my own self in the process. Once I do gain the mentality of being still there is nothing that will stop the works of the Lord.

Take a moment…

So if you are facing anxious thoughts and are trying to control whatever it might be in your life, close your eyes to block everything out. Take a deep breath in and slowly exhale. Pick up that spiritual helmet you threw on the ground and place it back on your head. Lastly, be still and trust that He is in control.

Let your voice proclaim praise to His name. Stand firm and tall because you are an overcomer through Jesus Christ. There is nothing that can ever stop you as long as you have God on your side.
