The Greatest Chef

Out to Eat

There have been many dinners I have attended with my family. Each filled with stories, laughter and dare I say hangry moments.. Come on now, we’re just like any typical family out there. We have those moments too!

After coming to an agreement with a restaurant and are all seated at a table, we place an order in for our meal. While we are waiting for our meal to arrive I have this weird tendency to stare into the kitchen just to make sure that they are making our food, and to see who’s meal is taking the longest. Every single time a waiter exits the kitchen I give them a long hard stare. It’s nothing personal, I’m just hungry at this point! Not to mention the fact that I can smell food being made and the meals at other tables.

You see, I know that I have ordered my food. I know that there are people aligning things in place for the meal. I can hear pots and pans moving around. I can hear food sizzling on the grill, and I sure can smell that scrumptious food being made. With that in mind, I begin to anticipate the food that is about to appear in front of me. Hence the reason for all the staring..

Time In-between

As I already wrote, I like to look into the kitchen to make sure that our food is being prepared. Spiritually that is almost impossible. I’ve already called upon God and laid all my prayers requests down at His feet. In fact He knows every desire that is within my heart. So I know with out a doubt that if  my request aligns with His will, it is going to be so much better that I could ever imagine!

That time in-between my request and the answered prayer my anticipation goes through the roof. But that is the about God.. God is the type of ‘chef’ who likes to have closed quarters so no one can peek in and try to harm His creations. He doesn’t like to be rushed and He most definitely does not like being told what to do. Not that He doesn’t appreciate our thoughts, but He knows what ingredients are best.

I encourage you today not to rush God but relax and enjoy the anticipating moments before the arrival of your answered prayers!
